As part of the overall public art strategy for South
Bristol NHS Community Hospital, Bristol Infracare LIFT
recently invited artists to tender for a piece of work which
would involve them working with the local community to
create artwork for the hospital. Ginkgo, the
specialist art consultant employed to manage this activity
received 86 applications from artists interested in this
work. Interviews will be held with a short list of
artists in November to select one to carry out this

will help with the selection of the artists and will be
encouraged to participate in the project.

98% of waste from the construction of South Bristol NHS Community Hospital is being recycled.
Building the new hospital produces large amounts of potential waste from packaging materials through to the clay and soil removed during construction process. Carillion, who are building the hospital, are focussed on reducing waste going to landfill and in September 2011 reported that out of 14 tonnes of waste produced, 13.8 tonnes were recycled. That’s a recycling rate of 98%!
